George Blanda

George Blanda was the oldest player to ever play football in the NFL. He was 48 years old when he finally retired from the Oakland Raiders almost 33 years ago. Even then, he was younger than Roscoe Bartlett. Blanda played his college ball for Bear Bryant at the University of Kentucky, before Bryant coached at Alabama. When he turned pro, he signed with the Chicago Bears for $600.

Blanda played for the Bears, the Baltimore Colts, the Houston Oilers and the Oakland Raiders. He was named All-Pro seven times, and led the old AFL in passing twice. Most people remember him as a place kicker, however. He kicked two extra points in Super Bowl II (that's Super Bowl Two, not Super Bowl Eleven). Blanda also kicked a field goal and an extra point in the 1975 AFC Championship Game. It was his last game.

Blanda still holds the NFL record for most touchdown passes in a game (7) and most extra points in a career (943). He was the first player to ever score 2,000 points in his career.
