Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis
It probably comes as no surprise that the eternally youthful Jackie O was younger than Roscoe Bartlett. What might come as a surprise is that she was only one year younger than Roscoe. Sixty years ago, she was named "Debutante of the Year". Her family was always seeking ways to ingratiate itself into high society, exaggerating their ancestry to include French royalty. It seems being fabulously wealthy and beautiful wasn't enough.
In 1953, she married the equally wealthy and attractive John F. Kennedy after he became a US Senator. But life was not always kind to her. Three of her five pregnancies ended in a miscarriage, a still birth, and a son who lived only two days. She was also a very private person forced to live a very public life, all while her husband cheated on her repeatedly.
All that changed with Kennedy's assassination on November 22, 1963. She moved to New York and made no public appearances for a full year. In 1968, she married the equally reclusive and even wealthier Aristotle Onassis. They led a very private life, being rarely photographed on one of his yachts. When he passed away in 1975, she was still only 46 years old. She lived out the remainder of her life quietly in New York, and died of cancer 14 years ago.
